Ax & Smash Records was established in 2004 as a rock subsidiary of Psychopathic Records. Its only release was Zug Izland's second album, 3:33. The following text appeared on the label's official website:
Detroit Rock City, the home to many of the greatest rock bands over the last half century, presents a new rock label for the 21st Century, Ax & Smash Records!
The launch of Ax & Smash (AXS) Records brings the music world a label designed strictly for the release of commercial rock and alternative rock albums.
